CREATING MY FINISHED BOOK - PROJECT 1

Image
CREATING MY FINISHED BOOK - PROJECT 1 25/03/2024 - extremely happy with this - it turned out perfectly  - professional - A5 - the paper I believe is 115gsm silk paper - colours are brighter and overall better - only thing I did notice is the back pages on the first page is darker than the last ones - oh well! - made 4 copies overall - one will be going in the exhibition

CREATING A PROTOTYPE - PROJECT 3

Image
CREATING A PROTOTYPE - PROJECT 3 25/03/2024 - as you can see, a lot of mistakes - learning curve though! - there was a border on InDesign - this was not a problem for project 1 as it was a white background anyway but this was ofcourse a problem for this project - I did not mind the white border too much to be honest, but looking at the contents, when creating backgrounds for my drawings that did not fit the page, the colour is off - I also noticed some images were cropped - overall, I do love the page quality - it's a shame I can't print any more off now as Gary is leaving - printing a rough prototype with my own printer - also needed to add more pages (which I have done now) as the back is a blank page Important note - as this is not my main project (what I will be creating for my exhibition), I do not mind the prototype not being professional paper and printing wise - I am more focused on this though for project 1 - sizing is not great - front and back cover need adjusting (I...

Altering illustrations for PROJECT 2 - creating more

Image
Altering illustrations for PROJECT 2 - creating more Undated - more realistic than my last illustration, however, I am not fond of the face - despite the face looking more childlike, there is something off about it that does not capture what the child may be going through  - it also does not seem funny to me - I know it does not have to be, but I want it to match my usual art style - I like the dog in the background as it makes you wonder what is goign to happen next - having the bow on the bike works well as it shows the audience that it is a girl's bike - definitely would look better with colour but I can experiment with this at a later date - definitely prefer this piece - it is more my style - the scuffs on the knees fit well to the story - I also like the small twigs that are in the hair - it is a nice touch - the facial expression reflects how the child is feeling but since it is in a style, it is more funny - decided to bring back the face of the mannequin from my old illust...

Additional pages for PROJECT 3

Image
Additional pages for PROJECT 3 15/03/2024 - quite boring - not much to it - however, I do like the placement of the text - the chosen font works really well too - colour choices are complimentary to the image on the next page - everything is consistent! - I love the addition of the blood as this works really well with the image on the next page - adds more life to the page as it was very boring before - swapped sides and I think it works better this way - I like how the text is overlapping the blood Here are the two images together:

Creating an InDesign file for PROJECT 1 and PROJECT 3

Image
Creating an InDesign file for PROJECT 1 and PROJECT 3 15/03/2024 - today I reached out to Matthew Duddington and requested his help with InDesign - after following online tutorials, I struggled with sizing the image on InDesign as well as understanding the layout of the book - after seeing what it should look like in person (thanks to Jim), I can definitely say that my InDesign file is correct! - I asked Matthew to double check my file to see if it would work and he said at first glance it definitely will - any problems however, I can just fix! - for project 3, I am not too bothered about printing it out professionally - this is because I am not having this as my spotlight project for my exhibition at the end of the academic year - ofcourse I will still try and print it out professionally, but worst case I can just do it the same way I did for my project 1 prototype! - sadly one of the staff members - Gary, is leaving so I need to print this out by the beginning of April or else I will...

Creating a second prototype for my book - PROJECT 1

Image
Creating a second prototype for my book - PROJECT 1 Undated - above are a few images of what my coloured version of my second prototype look like - I had a meetup with Jim and my next steps are to create a layout in InDesign, and then after that we will be looking at printing this out professionally - I have emailed Matthew Duddington for help/advice on InDesign but I will also be looking at videos online to help me - I am very happy with how the book has turned out, it was quite difficult to get everything in order though as I used Powerpoint to do this (as I wanted to print a prototype out ASAP before I tackled InDesign) - I figured it out though! - I am quite scared to staple it though as it is too big for my stapler, I will probably trim the book down slightly though so I can successfully staple this - I also want the book slightly smaller anyway as I included 'perfect to read on the loo!' on the front - so I want a smaller book for this - I did really like the book pocket ...
