Creating more hearts for Project 3
Creating more hearts for Project 3
- after speaking with Sarah, she explained further that rather than having tiny limbs within the heart, to make the actual heart into limbs
- this was quite challenging to do but I tried my best with it
- I decided to make the hands connect to the heart through skin that looked stretched
- I really love the outcome of this but looking at it right now on a different screen, I definitely need to make the red brighter as it is very dark and almost blends in with the black background
- this is the colourised version. I really do like the look of it especially the use of blending where the stretched skin is
- due to there being three sets of hands, I decided to experiment with skin tone. However, having 3 different skin tones gives the impression that there are 3 different people. Due to this being poetry about love, I then modified this to be only 2 different skin tones. This way it communicates that there are 2 people amongst the same heart
- this piece also has quite a personal touch to it. I think it works really well
- I think I want to experiment with this concept and perhaps include a face of some sorts within the heart? Something that has a realism effect
- since my last illustrations of the hearts, I thought the concept of having a drawing within a drawing was an interesting concept - so I wanted to keep this
- I used the drawings from my previous hearts and placed the design as the texture of the heart
- I feel like this works more effectively and there is more going on
- I really love the turnout of this piece! The use of the colours really compliment each other
- I also then experimented with the original piece that was the outline
- I think the colours are very interesting here
- it was fun to experiment with this and there is a lot I can do with this! I will carry on with this concept.

- after speaking with Sarah, it was mentioned that my previous illustrations were quite scary looking
- in this illustration, I changed this and made the hands blend in more rather than making it look like it was ripping out of the skin
- I also made it to be one set of hands so it looked like one individual hugging the other individual's heart
- I much prefer this one, I do miss having the textures on the heart such as the patterns, however, I think this works a lot better and is more subtle and effective
- the colours also blend in nicely with each other!
- altered background
- I felt that black was too strong and I wanted a colour that would compliment the illustration nicely and also have associations with the colour of the heart
- more consistent!
